Frankie Rose @ Township @ Township (Formerly Panchos)
9:00 pm – 11:45 pm

You may know her from her parts in Dum Dum Girls, Chrystal Stilts, or The Vivian Girls – but I like her best as herself, Frankie Rose (at least I think that’s her real name). A friend at work turned me on to her and I’ve never been to Township, so I’m excited to check it out.

Opener = Dive

I was too hung over to catch their noon set on Friday at Lolla so I’ll be heading to the Metro in September to get my fix of the Swedish sister duo.

I got Family by Lauren Dukoff today, a book of photographs she took of musician friends like Joanna Newsom, Vetiver, and Devendra Banhart. After seeing 50 pictures of Devendra looking bad ass – like playing a classical guitar with seven rings on and wearing velvet pants, I decided that I need to go to this show.

Jul 24 Wed
Rx Bandits @ The Metro
7:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Tix

Ah yeah! Rx Bandits are playing the Resignation all the way through in honor of its 10 year anniversary.

Read more about my excitement here.

Oct 25 Fri
Desaparecidos @ Metro
9:00 pm – 11:45 pm

Tickets

I’ve seen Conor Oberst with Bright Eyes, Monsters of Folk, and as himself, but never with Desaparecidos – his rock band. They put out one awesome record called Read Music, Speak Spanish 10 years ago and then disappeared until reuniting for a small reunion tour last summer. This is their first time in Chicago since reforming.
